Cummens Shelf Clock

Shelf Clock, circa 1810

Significant for its state of preservation and superb
proportions, this shelf clock was made by
William Cummens (1768-1834), one of Simon Willard's
early apprentices.

It is further enhanced by the choice of exceptional woods
throughout and retains what appears
to be the first surface.

Note the extraordinary dial with Arabic numerals
at the quarter hours and the gold band
around the outer edge, both reminiscent of the
first generation of banjo clocks made by Simon Willard.

It retains 2 of its original brass finials.

34 ½" tall including finial, 13 ½" by 6 ½" at the base.
