          | | A Fine Chippendale
            Mahogany Lolling Chair
            Newburyport or Portsmouth,
            circa 1785
            In fine condition
with an old surface.  Note the detail photograph below taken
from underneath showing the braces that slip into notches in
the corner of the seat frame, a feature rarely found on American
furniture but sometimes found in Portsmouth.
            Additionally, notice
the fine cabinetry in the way the arm supports are dovetailed
            into the seat frame.
