examples known made by Jonathan Purinton (1732-1816) of Kensington,
New Hampshire.
Circa 1770, this
important clock features a pleasing case of butternut and a beautifully
engraved brass dial inscribed with the maker's name. It is in
fine running order, retains an old finish, and is overall in
an excellent and original state of preservation.
Total height: 80
inches
It is illustrated
in The American Clock by William Distin and Robert Bishop,
figures 68 and 69, page 43.
